Course Aims
This is our core introduction to confined space access. It is designed to cover the legislation, working practices and safety requirements for access to all types of confined space, and includes the use of single-stage vertical access systems (harnesses, winches and tripods to enter shafts or ladder ways).
The course covers the use of escape breathing apparatus, gas detectors and communication systems.
Who should attend?
All persons who are required to enter simple vertical-access confined spaces as part of their work, for example drains, sumps, shafts, trenches or silos.

- The Confined Space Regulations 1997
- Dangerous atmospheres and COSHH
- Isolation of confined spaces
- Personal gas detection equipment and monitoring
- Confined space purging and ventilation
- Safe systems of work and the permit system
- Use and inspection of harnesses, winches and tripods
- Use of positive pressure escape breathing apparatus
- Emergency procedures
As above course but with practical use of BA emergency escape sets in a controlled confined space environment and practical rescue scenarios from a confined space
