Hi all,
I'm desperately trying, in vain it seems, to gain offshore work.
I am looking at anything at the moment but would prefer rope access.
Can anyone out there tell me exactly how you become NDT, UT or MPI etc qualified as it appears you need the experience first before you can gain qualifications. It appears to be a viscous circle.
Any help help or guidance would be bery much appreciated... |

Your first steps need to be getting Rope Access employment. Briefly (this is all covered in our Rope Access Career Pack software) a start in Rope Access means you will eventually find yourself on a Rope Access Inspection team. From there you can pick the brains of those you are working with and start to increase your knowledge.
It's difficult at first but if you hang in long enough the breaks will come. Once you get the first one or two NDT tickets it becomes a little easier as you then understand the industry as well as the qualifications system.
It takes years to build up, not easy and requires dedication from yourself in order to be the best tech you can. This is what trips up the majority, some think it's an easy meal ticket to instant riches - it isn't.
The rewards are huge for the good techs who know how to invest in themselves so if that's what you REALLY want to do don't give up..!

As the year goes on it'll get busier so in theory it should be a little easier for you to get the start you need.
Keep an eye on the new dedicated NDT job site here:
