Hey Guys
I'm determined to begin a new career in NDT which a couple of you advised me on in another post...so thanks for that! it is appreciated.
I have a good understanding of the field as i read loads and absorb it quite easily. I have looked into taking training courses as well as approaching every NDT company i can find. The most helpful feedback was from a company in Gt Yarmouth, OTS, who suggested doing the training first and then re-approaching companies so i could then get the experience needed for certification, as needless to say it makes me more employable.
I've looked into doing MPI and DPI courses and also UT courses, but really what i want to know is firstly is this advice on the ball, and also what type of NDT training will give me the best potential of gaining work.
I know how hard it is to get a start, like in many industries, but i am determined to make it as the whole field fascinates me. Any good advice would be soundly appreciated... |

HI Egg,
This is probably the most answered question in this forum, use the 'search' link at the top of the page and see how many posts there are on the subject.
Also, our CPack software shows exactly what you need to do to get the best jobs, keep the best jobs and get the most amount of cash out of the industry. You can either download it and upgrade it (together with a premium account it makes sense) or you can struggle on making the same mistakes as hundreds of others.
You sound very keen which will instantly put you ahead of a certain percentage of others, however, the pitfalls are there so you need to know about them. Use this site as a resource to prevent you wasting time and resources running down blind alleys. |

Hi Egg,
I've not been long in the game myself but from my experience the advice from OTS seems spot on.
For the type of courses then MPI, Dye pen & UT or Rad would be a good start. Also PCN rather than SNT is the best way to go as it seems to be more in demand from the employers.
Good luck. |
