Read so many posts on NDT but none seem to answer my question, also searched it, and again no real answer for my question though.
NDT so far I have established that MPI and Eddie Current (sounds like a 60’s pop idol) are on average the best ones to gain, not asking this though,
Looking at it, you really need your Level II to actually gain employment or the jobs I have monitored over the last 6 months, I have now contacted several Training centres, and told it is possible to get your level II straight off, so this is my method of approach, so good news I thought !, they tell me this exam will give me my level II –RESULTS NOTICE, and then it’s a case of getting on the job to get the experience then actually get my qualification in full, so once I established its not a full level II but a ‘RESULTS NOTICE’ decided to see what the companies said (only got chance to call one today)
I called CAN’s and asked them if I had my Level II in NDT would they accept someone on the said ‘Results Notice’ she told me I needed at least one years experience before they take on, grrrr lol, so the question is, is this just CAN’s offshore, and is it the usual test of strength to see if she can break me and have one less call a week to answer
NDT LEVEL II RESULTS NOTICE is it any better than the level I ????

No it isn't.
Getting experience is difficult (it's all covered in our Career Pack software) but not impossible. You just have to be a bit more resourceful. |

At the bottom of the results notice, there is a line which reads:
All criteria met - NO
This means you do not qualify to hold the certificate as level 2 in this discipline.
You will be regarded as a level 1 until you get the experience.
How do you get the experience without the qual?? Hrrrmmm!!
I always advise people not to go the direct entry level 2 route, as basically you are wasting that length of time on your ticket, and will have to resit it on it's original expiry date, not from when you get issued the qual.
In my opinion, this is a con on the part of the training company (Who don't tell you this) to get the level 2 money in a year before they would normally get it.
Best bet is to go with the level 1 ticket, and hope that with your other quals, you can get a role as the 3rd man in a team, until you are up to speed.
Another "misdirection" that certain training companies use is to issue you with a "Certificate of training" instead of a "Certificate of examination" which again is worth about as much as the paper you get your chips wrapped in. |
