Manual Handling Training Syllabus
Introduction
This course covers manual handling techniques. The course provides awareness about relevant legislation and legal responsibilities. The practical training covers manual handling techniques. Manual Handling is one of the most common cause of injury at work and causes over a third of all workplace injuries which includes work related Musculoskeletal Disorders (MSDs)Such as upper and lower limb pain/disorders, joint and repetitive strain injuries of various. It is important to understand the hazards and risks associated with manual handling and the methods for controlling those risks.
Course Aims
The aims of this course are to give the participants the awareness through theoretical and practical training to encourage positive manual handling behaviour and perform manual handling activities in a safe manner in an industrial environment.
Course Objectives
- The delegates are able to demonstrate understanding of the importance of carrying out work duties in a safe and sound manner in accordance with the legislative requirements of their geographic location
- The delegates are able to identify aspects of their job tasks that could increase a worker’s risk of developing muscular / skeletal injuries
- The delegates are able to demonstrate understanding of safe practices for manual handling including the correct handling of equipment
- The delegates are able to identify signs and symptoms of injuries related to poor manual handling techniques and have knowledge of reporting methods
- The delegates are able to demonstrate a problem-solving approach to manual handling
- The delegates are able to demonstrate manual handling risk reduction techniques
