We manufacture equipment and train people how to use it - training is our speciality. We are an ISO 9001 assured training organisation and offer a wide range of Rope Access and Height related safety training courses including IRATA, levels 1,2 and 3, Confined Spaces, Working at Height + many more. SpanSet were the first training company to be audited by the BSI to the standard BS8454:2006 for the delivery of Training & Education for Working at Height & Rescue. We’re proud of this achievement.
Industrial Rope Access Trade Association (IRATA) qualifications are the industry standard for Rope Access Technicians working in the offshore oil and gas industries as well as at height on a wide range of construction and civil engineering projects. SpanSet has been successfully providing rope access training for over 20 years and is a fully accredited member of the Association as both an equipment supplier and training provider.
Our modern, extensive training facility is based within easy reach of Manchester, Liverpool and the Midlands, 5 minutes from Junction 18 off the M6. We offer state of the art classrooms with multi-media touchscreens for theory sessions, a bespoke reception area with viewing gallery of our excellent indoor rope access training area together with a 25m high, purpose built outdoor training structure. Train with us in a safe, clean, warm and comfortable environment.
All SpanSet trainers are fully qualified and have many years’ experience working on site as well as training candidates.
Courses include 4 days intensive training + 1 day’s Assessment. All equipment required will be provided. £595 + VAT to include: Tuition and Assessment fees; Registration with IRATA; Training manual. Lunch/refreshments (we have a great coffee machine!).
IRATA Level OneThis entry level course provides successful candidates with an internationally recognised qualification in Industrial Rope Access allowing you to work on a wide variety of structures in all types of industry sectors – from window cleaning on skyscrapers to cliff stabilisation or NDT on offshore installations. No previous experience is necessary however you should have an adequate level of fitness and an aptitude for working at height. Training will focus on the knowledge and skills required – the safe use of equipment, a wide range of rope access manoeuvres including simple rescue and basic legislation.
IRATA Level TwoFor the more experienced Rope Access Technician who holds Level 1 certification and has 1000 logged hours over a 12 month period. Passing your L2 can lead to enhanced employment opportunities as you will be considered a more advanced technician.
The L2 course covers a wide range of technical rigging methods and a variety of rescue skills. There is a greater emphasis on theory and knowledge although the course remains mostly practical.
IRATA Level ThreeAn IRATA L3 Supervisor is responsibility for rope access safety on work projects.
This course is for the most experienced Rope Access Technician who holds L2 certification and has at least 1000 logged hours at L2 over a 12 month period. Passing your L3 can lead to enhanced employment opportunities as L3 Supervisors are much sought after within the Rope Access Industry.
Training is focused on ensuring you have a comprehensive knowledge of advanced rope access manoeuvres, rescue techniques and current legislation.
Note: L3 candidates must hold an appropriate current first aid certificate.
IRATA ReassessmentsIRATA certificates require renewal within three years of the date of assessment.
SpanSet can provide re-assessment at all three levels for current IRATA technicians. Courses run for 5 days and include a full assessment at the required level following training.
