New Blasting and Painting Courses - a first in the UK
...the first training facility in the UK to offer the OPITO approved Trainee Blasting and Painting Course
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE The BIS Skills Centre introduced two new courses to its portfolio in March, becoming the first training facility in the UK to offer the OPITO approved Trainee Blasting and Painting Course and the Blasting and Painting Competency Assessment Course, which is delivered in accordance with ASTM standards. Robert Grainger, NACE certified Technical Manager for the BIS Skills Centre, tells us more: 'Through these courses, the BIS Skills Centre develop the skills and competence of people at various stages of their careers - including industry workers who are looking to diversify into the blasting and painting specialism. 'The OPITO approved Trainee Blasting and Painting Course lasts 3 days with BIS Skills Centre specialist training teams delivering both practical and classroom training and assessment. On completion, the trainee receives an OPITO recognised qualification and gains fundamental knowledge of the Blasting and Painting profession. 'As an optional extra, trainees will be strictly monitored and reviewed during the first year of their career by the BIS Skills Centre through frequent assessments, which take place either on site or at the centre. Once satisfied with the trainee's capability the centre will issue a certificate recognising their competency in the field. This additional service is currently only offered to BIS Salamis personnel; however, we are keen to introduce this to external clients. The ASTM Blasting and Painting course is for professional blasters and painters who are highly competent within this demanding discipline. Through the 3 day course participants will be asked to demonstrate their ability both by written test and monitoring by an independent qualified assessor. Once satisfied that the candidate can perform to the standards stated in the ASTM guidelines, the BIS Skills Centre will award the participant with certification recognising this achievement. 'In accordance with the BIS Salamis Task Achievement Competency System, BIS Salamis personnel who complete either course will receive an end SQA Competence Award - An Industry accepted qualification which recognises a high level of experience and skill in one of 36 competence areas' To find out more about these courses please contact the BIS Skills Centre : 01224 246499 training@salamis.com ####BIS Skills CentreTel: 01603 258280W: www.salamis.comDetails: www.rigg-access.com/company/more_details.asp?uid=8137
