FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Petzl have produced a new harness which will appeal to those who spend a lot of time aiding or ascending ropes. The new Falcon Ascent Harness is derived from the popular Navaho Sit harness but with some clever differences:The harness has been stripped down by narrowing the waistbelt (still fitted with a breathable perforated foam for maximum comfort) making it much more lightweight (780-800g for the Ascent as opposed to 1190-1300g for a Navaho Sit), the 2 metal D rings have been removed and replaced with textile loops (to which you can still attach a connector should you require the use of side Ds) and the front D is now a two-part textile link (Petzl recommend using a Omni Triact or Omni Lock to secure the harness shut and act as your front D).The design of this front closure / attachment point ensures that your front rope grab (a Croll for instance) is much lower than on most other harnesses making it much more ergonomically efficient when you are in ascent mode (easier to climb ropes!). A rear attachment buckle also makes it compatible with the Top Croll Chest harness. The harness is fitted with two rigid equipment loops over the hips and two flexible ones at the rear, the latter allowing you to wear a backpack in comfort. It also has two slots for the Caritool.
All-in-all it looks an interesting prospect. Full details or to order a harness go to http://www.abaris.co.uk/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=281 ####Abaris International LimitedTel: 01484 665531W: www.abaris.co.ukDetails: www.rigg-access.com/company/more_details.asp?uid=7716
