FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE AquaTerra’s training division thrivingCourse demand in fourth quarter more than doubles year-on-year ROPE-ACCESS service company AquaTerra Solutions said yesterday its training division was thriving despite recession and the company was forecasting results substantially better than it hoped at about £8.5million in turnover for 2009.The Aberdeen company, whose training division provides specialist courses including for rigging and lifting and working at height, said despite a relatively quiet October training sales for the fourth quarter of 2009 were up 100% year-on-yearIt said more than 500 delegates had attended courses in the quarter compared with 223 a year earlier.AquaTerra training director Mark Pearce said that: “Normally a quiet time of year, December has been our busiest month to date for the training division. Companies across the board seem to have used the quieter periods to focus internally on closing the skill gaps.”“We’ve seen a significant increase of interest in our working-at-height, confined-space and rigging courses.” AquaTerra’s growth success affirms its decision to invest nearly £3million in a move from Stoneywood to a 2.5-acre site at Midmill Industrial Estate, Kintore which has 10,000 square-feet of training facilities and 5,000sq ft of office space. The training facilities, which include specially designed areas for simulating work at height, confined spaces, plus a comprehensive rigging loft and lifting frames, will allow AquaTerra to expand its range of accredited courses. The company has a training division employing 15 and an offshore operations division employing 50.
