RIGGERS COURSE PART 2

Designed for students who have successfully completed the Rigging part one course and Working at Height Technician course and wish to move onto the next level of rigging training. The course will teach over four days a further knowledge of both lifting and working at height legislation, standards, rigging mechanics, rope rigging practice, additional lifting accessories including wire rope, chain and electric motors and winches. Ideally workers must have had suitable logged rigging experience since completing the Rigging part one course. The candidate will be expected to show and demonstrate any requested technique from the Rigging part one course.

Theoretical

• Legislation and Legal responsibility
• Standards of equipment
• Safe system of work
• Plan and calculate the load and equipment requirements for a rigging task.
• Mechanical advantage.
• Advanced rigging techniques, calculating load and load distribution.
• Pulleys and force calculation
• Rope rescue for fall arrest.
• Load distribution on a fly bar and counterweight system.

Practical

• Calculating load using load cells
• Rigging accessories
• Pulley systems and force calculations
• Rigging to structural elements
• Electronic chain hoists, safety, limits, plugging up and practical use.
• Electronic chain hoist control, plugging up and practical use.
• Electronic winches, safety, limits, reeving, and practical use.
• Winch diverter pulleys, safe use, and attaching to structures
• Advanced rigging techniques using bridles and multi leg clutch chains.
• Advanced rope rescue from fall arrest.
• Rigging onto a fly-bar and load distribution.

• Assessment Method: Written and practical
• Course Duration: 4 Days
• Candidate Ratio: 1:6
• Revalidation Period: Certification valid for 3 years
• Certification: Paper/PDF copy of Certificate & Photo ID Card
